Carlos Correa Reached Out To Javier Baez To See If The Chicago Cubs Would Be A Fit For Him

According to a report, Carlos Correa recently reached out to Javier Baez to talk about his experience with the Chicago Cubs with a potential deal looming

An unexpected suitor has come through the woodworks for free agent shortstop Carlos Correa: the Chicago Cubs.

Despite an underwhelming 2021 campaign where the Cubs sold off their beloved core, they made it clear that they were looking to be buyers this offseason with a lot of money off the books.

Sure enough, the Cubs were able to sneak in a big deal before the lockout took effect on Wednesday night – signing pitcher Marcus Stroman to a three-year contract.

Shortly after Stroman announced on Twitter he was signing with Chicago, he was already doing some recruiting work for Carlos Correa to come join him with the Cubs.

While the Cubs might feel like a long shot for Carlos Correa, the rumors might actually be legitimate.

According to a report, Correa has already reached out to former Cubs shortstop, Javier Baez, to ask him about his experiences on the North Side of Chicago.

Mike Rodriguez of Univision claims that not only was Carlos Correa in talks with Javier Baez. But also that the Cubs and Yankees have emerged as the two most likely landing spots for Correa’s services.

Obviously, we’ll now have to wait until the MLB lockout concludes – with no end in sight – before we can see Correa continue to talk with potential teams.

But perhaps Carlos Correa will shock the world and decide to sign with the Chicago Cubs prior to Opening Day 2022.
