Cam Newton received some bad news on Tuesday morning.

Not only was the former MVP notified that he lost the quarterback battle in New England to rookie Mac Jones. But he was also given his outright release by the team.

After the news was announced, social media was blowing up with potential options and landing spots for Cam Newton.

And later in the morning, Newton chimed in himself.

Cam Newton did not want his fans to feel sorry for him after being cut by the patriots.

It’s unclear what the future holds for Cam Newton.

The veteran quarterback had some flashes of his old self with the Patriots, but also looked wholly incapable of pushing the ball down the field.

There’s also his unvaccinated status, which may have played a small role in him being released by the Patriots.

A lot of teams would likely getting an upgrade at backup quarterback if they signed Cam Newton. But it remains to be seen what the market will end up being for his services.
