We won’t be seeing star receiver Calvin Ridley for a long time.

Amid all the trade rumors, it was reported by NFL insider Tom Pelissero on Monday that Ridley is being suspended for the entire 2022-23 season for gambling on NFL games.

“The NFL is suspending #Falcons WR Calvin Ridley indefinitely for at least the 2022 season for gambling on NFL games after he left the team last season.” Pelissero wrote on Twitter.

In a statement, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell pointed to upholding the “integrity” of the league as the basis for such a massive punishment for Calvin Ridley.

Calvin Ridley stepped away from the Atlanta Falcons last season, citing mental health issues. But by all accounts, it looked like the young, promising receiver was ready to make his return next season.

Now, NFL fans will have to live with the fact that we won’t be seeing Ridley until at least the 2023-24 season, if the suspension holds through the appeals process.

Nevertheless, this is a tough blow for Calvin Ridley and the entire league.
