Bubba Wallace Had Epic View of Joey Logano Crash at Talladega

It goes without saying that there will be at least one spectacular wreck anytime NASCAR races at Talladega Superspeedway. The fastest track on the circuit has produced many a “Big One” over the years. Although the first crash on Sunday only knocked Joey Logano out of the race, it was by far the most noteworthy of the day.

Coming down to the final lap of the first stage in the Geico 500, drivers were maneuvering every which way with the hopes of earning themselves some playoff points. Running fourth, race favorite Denny Hamlin got a massive bump run from behind and had to run his nose out of the high line to avoid getting into the back of Joey Logano.

When Hamlin tried to collect himself and get back in formation, he made contact with Logano’s left rear quarter panel. That triggered the crash seen below:

Holy crap! What a ride. Given that Logano’s car spun to the left and down the track, no air panels sprung up from his roof and thus the No. 22 car went for one hell of a ride.

Now, if you thought that view was crazy, let’s just say you ain’t seen nothing yet!

Bubba Wallace had a front-row seat for Logano’s flip. The in-car camera on board the No. 23 Toyota produced one of the most epic crash views NASCAR fans have ever seen.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is an upside-down car flying directly toward you at roughly 200 mph. The whole thing look straight out of a movie or video game for crying out loud!

Somehow, Bubba Wallace was able to maneuver his Camry to avoid the car flying at him. Aside from minor damage on the hood, Michael Jordan’s ride was just fine. In fact, Wallace rebounded to win Stage 2 of the race!

Joey Logano wasn’t so lucky. His day was done after that incident and he had no shame in ripping superspeedway racing after the fact either:

While Logano makes truthful points, the degree of difficulty and danger that comes with racing at Talladega and Daytona are what make it so epic to watch. Good luck changing the racing at NASCAR’s two most popular tracks and maintaining the same level of awesomeness.
