Earlier in the week, it was reported that Brian Flores and the Miami Dolphins were close to getting a new quarterback.

According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, the Dolphins are looking to land Deshaun Watson ASAP.

But when asked about the report on Friday, Brian Flores maintained that he’s moving forward with the team he has right now. And he even dropped a “Tua is our quarterback” on us.

“I don’t really get into rumors — Tua is our quarterback,” Flores said when asked about Watson via ESPN. “We’re happy with the quarterback, our quarterback situation. I’ll leave it at that, which I’ve said multiple times.”

Tua Tagovailoa has been battling injuries and mediocre play all year. and the Dolphins have come out of the gates to a lackluster 1-5 start to the season.

While they’ll probably give him to the end of the season, I’m not sure Tua is the answer for Brian Flores and Miami. Perhaps they’ll end up pulling the trigger on an incredibly risky Deshaun Watson trade, but I’d be surprised if anything is imminent.

It feels to me like the Dolphins’ issues with the quarterback position will be addressed this offseason.
