As the conference championship round approaches, football fans still await a decision on the Patrick Mahomes injury. Mahomes was ruled out of Sunday’s divisional round with a concussion. However, recent reports suggest it was a tweak to a nerve in the neck rather than the dreaded concussion. Packers veteran Brett Farve warns Mahomes to be smart as he goes through the concussion protocol and ultimately makes a decision to play.

Farve spoke from his own experience about the decision ahead of Patrick Mahomes.

“I played 321 straight games, it kind of goes against everything I stood for when I played. But, you got to be smart. You’ve got to be smart,” Favre said of Mahomes potentially playing this week.

Favre also stated how it can be easy to want to tough a concussion at the moment, but it can catch up with you.
“When you’re in the moment, and you’re young, you’re bulletproof, man,” Favre said. “But, I’m 51 years old and I’m wondering what tomorrow will bring because of concussions more than anything.”
Let’s all face the reality of the situation. If the decision were up to Mahomes there would be no holding him out of the AFC Championship. Sadly that isn’t the case. I know health is the main concern like Favre said, but as a football fan, I really hope Mahomes clears the protocol and is able to suit up against Buffalo.
