Brandon Ingram Opens Up About Hating Playing On LeBron’s Lakers

Brandon Ingram seems to have found his groove in the NBA with the New Orleans Pelicans. However, it wasn’t always so easy for the star forward. Ingram was on the Lakers before they made their leap to a championship-caliber team, and he had some bad things to say about his time spent in Los Angeles.

Ingram went on The Old Man & The Three podcast with JJ Redick and spoke about what went wrong with the Lakers.

“I know other guys around me, it killed them every day. When you wake up and you see your name on Twitter. The guys around me, they love Twitter. They love searching. Putting in their names,” Ingram said. “The energy was totally off. It didn’t seem like anybody wanted to play, anything. It was a whirlwind.”

Now, Ingram isn’t throwing LeBron under the bus by any means, but it’s also an interesting comment given how LeBron and Lakers management went about the restructuring of the team before winning the championship last season.

The Lakers shipped off a lot of their young pieces, including Ingram, in order to land experienced players who knew how to win. LeBron didn’t have time to groom the younger guys into winners, he just had them shipped off instead.

Going to New Orleans was probably in Ingram’s best interest. Since the move, he has been a completely different player. He averaged a career high 23.8 PPG last season, and it seems like he’s only getting better.

The future could be bright for Brandon Ingram and the New Orleans Pelicans.
