New York Governor Andrew Cuomo made news last week when he announced that Bills fans will be allowed in the stadium for the team’s playoff game. While Cuomo is only letting the stadium fill up to 10% capacity, it will be better than the empty stadium we’ve been watching all year.
NYS, @NFL and @BuffaloBills have come to an agreement to allow ~6,700 fans to attend the first home playoff game.
The stadium is outdoors. Every fan must test negative before game, wear a mask & social distance.
There will be post-game contact tracing.
To Bills fans—be smart.

Bills owner Terry Pegula said he’s excited to have fans back at the game.
“As you know the entire Bills organization missing the energy of the fans at our games,” Pegula said. “We know we’re there but we want them here. We will feel and definitely soak in their support at the game.”
Andrew Cuomo even hinted that he might be in attendance when the Bills take on the Colts this weekend. Only problem? Bills fans don’t want him there.
Bills fan Jeffrey Dorenzo isn’t happy with Andrew Cuomo, and he isn’t happy with the 10% capacity rule, so he started a petition to ban the governor from the game.
“So Cuomo is going to attend our playoff game after telling us that we can only attend at less than 10% capacity? If he thinks he has more right to a seat in that stadium over people who have waited over 20 years for this opportunity, then people better be there to protest his entry. This is OUR team! This is OUR home. We don’t want you here,” the petition reads.

So far nearly 24,000 people have signed Dorenzo’s petition.
I’m not sure this petition will stop Cuomo from attending the game, but I expect he’ll receive a smattering of boos from the small amount of Bills fans in attendance.
