Bill Belichick Talks About His Decision to Bench Mac Jones During Game

Bill Belichick has all the answers.

The New England Patriots played two quarterbacks during a brutal 33-14 loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday night football, as Bailey Zappe replaced Mac Jones during the second half. Following the game, New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick gave a muddled explanation of his reasoning for replacing Mac Jones, who was finally back after severely injuring his ankle about a month ago.

Bill Belichick wouldn’t answer why he replaced Mac Jones, but claims it wasn’t due to an injury or poor performance on Mac’s part.

Belichick claimed he always had the plan to play two quarterbacks, which makes no sense whatsoever.

Mac Jones was the 15th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and was outplayed by Bailey Zappe, a fourth-rounder out of Western Kentucky. Jones finished the night 3-of-6 for 13 yards with no touchdowns and an interception. Zappe completed 14 of 22 passes for 185 yards, with a touchdown and two interceptions. Zappe was also under center for both of New England’s touchdown drives.

Now based off his decision to play two QB’s during the game, there is a legitimate quarterback controversy that has erupted in New England. The thing is, neither guy is all that great and the Patriots are 3-4. I can’t wait to deal with this Bill Belichick nonsense for the rest of the season.
