Bill Belichick Attempts To Defend Mac Jones Following “Dirty” Play During The Panthers Game

Bill Belichick has Mac Jones’ back.

During the win against the Panthers, the rookie quarterback came under fire when he was seen yanking Brian Burns by the ankle after being sacked and losing the football.

After the game, Panthers linebacker Haason Reddick called out the Mac Jones play as “dirty”.

“Definitely thought it was a dirty play,” Reddick said, via ESPN. “I actually saw and witnessed the play while it was happening. At first it felt like he was trying trip or kick Burns. And the next thing you know I saw him tugging on Burns’ ankle. I thought it was completely dirty. Hopefully, it’s something the league addresses.”

When speaking on the Mac Jones-Brian Burns incident, Bill Belichick said that he believes that Jones thought Burns had the ball.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the NFl is going to review the Mac Jones play to determine whether or not to hand down a punishment to the Patriots QB. There was no penalty on the play, but Brian Burns went to the medical tent to receive treatment on his ankle.

Jones and the Patriots improved to 5-4 after the win, and have inserted themselves into the playoff conversation in the AFC.
