Baltimore Orioles first baseman Trey Mancini gave us the feel good story of the day.

Mancini missed the entire 2020 season due to a battle with colon cancer. In his first Spring Training game, he stepped up to the plate and received a standing ovation from the fans in attendance.

Mancini followed his emotional moment with a single.

Trey Mancini talked about what the moment meant to him after the game.

“I made sure to enjoy it and kind of cherish today because there were times, especially when I got diagnosed early on, where I wasn’t totally sure if I’d be playing baseball again” said Mancini, who has been in Sarasota for over three weeks training. “Just being able to come out here and feel like myself and feel great and participate in everything fully is something that I’m very appreciative of and I don’t take for granted at all.”

In 2019, Trey Mancini was a lone bright spot on the last-place Orioles team. The slugger hit .291 with 35 home runs and 97 RBIs. The Orioles certainly missed his presence last year, and they’ll be glad to have him back in their lineup.

What a story for Trey Mancini.
