Imagine leading your team in scoring yet perhaps being the most disliked player in the locker room. Well, that situation is reportedly the reality for Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton.

Sexton, a former top-10 draft pick who is in his third NBA season, has reportedly frustrated several of his Cavaliers teammates. Although he is a gifted scorer, Sexton’s ball-dominant style of play isn’t exactly conducive to team basketball.
Big surprise here. Teammates frustrated with a guy that dominates the ball.

The former Alabama standout is leading all Cleveland Cavaliers with 24.4 points per game on the season. At the same time, Collin Sexton averages just 4.1 assists per contest.
No wonder his NBA teammates aren’t as thrilled as the casual fan watching him get buckets seemingly every night.
Some of the tweets in Sexto’s defense after these reports first surfaced on Sunday are downright hilarious.
Collin Sexton is the greatest basketball player alive.

Well, I hate to break it to these guys, but the numbers never lie. And said numbers clearly indicate that Sexton is a ball-dominant player.
On the season, Sexton’s usage rate of 29.2 ranks 23rd among all NBA players. At the same time, only five players with greater usage rates have an assist percentage worse than Sexton’s 21.0.
Not only are several Cavaliers players growing frustrated by his inability and/or unwillingness to pass the Rock, but they are hearing it from other teams too. Reports suggest that the Cavs are being openly taunted on the floor by opponents over the whole thing.

I mean, none of this should really come as a major surprise. After all, this year is hardly an anomaly compared to Sexton’s first two years in the league. For his career, he is averaging 20.1 points and 3.3 assists per game.
With a record of 21-43, Collin Sexton and the Cleveland Cavaliers don’t have a sniff of qualifying for the expanded NBA postseason field this season. How these rumors and in-house drama impact the team’s plans for the future is the real storyline to monitor here going forward.
