Colorado Avalanche fans praying that star forward Nathan MacKinnon’s injury sustained on Wednesday night wasn’t as bad as it looked.

During the game against the Bruins, Taylor Hall came up high on MacKinnon — leaving him bloodied on the ice.

Upon further look at the replay, it looked like Hall hit Nathan MacKinnon’s stick into his face, causing an unsettling amount of blood to come spilling out onto the ice.

Shortly after the Nathan MacKinnon went to the locker room, it was announced by the Avs that he would not be returning to tonight’s marquee matchup against the Bruins.

Nathan MacKinnon is the clear catalyst of the Avalanche, and has been for the past few seasons. The superstar has played in just 30 games on the season, currently with 43 points while centering the top line.

Hopefully MacKinnon is just sitting out for precautionary measure, and will be back in the lineup in short time.

We’ll continue to look for updates on Nathan MacKinnon after the scary collision with Taylor Hall.
