Chicago Bears Have Reportedly Promised Andy Dalton That He’d Be the Week One Starter

The Chicago Bears have reportedly already told Andy Dalton that he'll start over Justin Fields for the team Week One against the Rams

Chicago Bears quarterback Andy Dalton arrived at OTAs this week, and was immediately bombarded with questions about Justin Fields and what his approach was to the Ohio State product breathing down his neck for the starting QB job.

“I knew the situation I was going into regardless of if they drafted somebody or they didn’t,” Andy Dalton said. “I was on a one-year deal and I was going to be the starter. So, my mindset didn’t have to change.”

Dalton said all the right things at the time, but reports have circulated that the Bears plan on giving Justin Fields an opportunity to win the starting job during Training Camp.

On Thursday, a conflicting report from Pro Football Talk claims that the Bears have already told Andy Dalton that he’ll get the job for Week One.

Despite what the Bears tell Andy Dalton, what Justin Fields does in training camp and preseason, how the Bears start the season, it’s clear that Dalton is just a place holder.

Sure, Andy Dalton can start the first game. But Justin Fields will be the Chicago Bears starter. And I think it’s going to happen sooner rather than later.
