Alex Smith to the Bears? ooks like Alex Smith and the Washington Football Team are parting ways. Now there’s real speculation about him being added to the Bears roster to compete with Nick Foles. Washington is releasing the NFL’s comeback player of the year, according to Ian Rappoport. Smith overcame 17 surgeries following a horrific leg injury to lead Washington to the playoffs last season.
The Washington Football Team is expected to part ways with QB Alex Smith in the coming days, sources tell me and @KimJonesSports. The AP Comeback Player of the Year has said he still wants to play, and at age 36 may have a chance to do so.

Now that Smith is officially done with Washington, he’s already being linked to the Bears.

For as great of a story as Alex Smith was on his comeback trail, an Alex Smith/Nick Foles QB room heading into Week 1 would be about as low of a floor as you could possible get. #Bears
Smith as a bridge/backup? Different story.

This is the last thing Bears fans want to hear. Not only does the idea of Nick Foles as starter make Bears fans sick, but the idea of Alex Smith and Foles battling it out for the starting job is somehow even worse.
The Bears are doomed to be stuck in QB Hell.
