Minnesota Wild captain Jared Spurgeon let his frustrations get the best of him during the Game One loss to the Blues on Monday night.

Late in the game, Surgeon noticed a Blues player on the ground, and fans immediately became enraged when cameras caught the Wild forward cross check Pavel Buchnevich right in the leg.

After the play, fans everywhere flocked to social media to call out Jared Spurgeon on the blatantly dirty play.

On Monday afternoon, the NHL announced that Jared Spurgeon was getting let off easy.

Despite the clear “intent to hurt” benchmark being displayed by Spurgeon, he was only fined $5,000, the maximum allowed for a dirty play on the ice.

Luckily for the Wild, they’ll have Jared Spurgeon available for the rest of the series. But you better believe that he’ll need to keep his head on a swivel following that BS on Monday.
