Colorado Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri got his revenge on Monday night.

Because of injuring Blues goalie Jordan Binnington in a collision, Kadri turned into public enemy #1 for Blues fans, which is fine. But in the midst of all the hate, Kadri was also receiving waves of racist messages given his Muslim status.

After Nazem Kadri scored a hat trick during the Avs’ commanding win on Monday, his wife Ashley Cave took to social media to reveal some of the horrifying messages their family was receiving from fans.

Nazem Kadri also dedicated his dominant performance to those who have expressed ‘hate’ over the past two days.

Whether or not you think Nazem Kadri is a dirty player on the ice is a moot point in this situation. Racism has no place in sports, and especially not hockey, where diversity isn’t as prevalent.

After Kadri’s hat trick, the Avalanche now take a commanding 3-1 series lead over the Blues, and remain the favorite to win the Stanley Cup later in the postseason.

For Nazem Kadri, that win had to feel a little extra special given everything his family has been forced to endure this week.
