What could have been.

The Seattle Seahawks made the surprising decision to trade their franchise QB Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos. Now we’re hearing some rumors that are suggesting Seattle was aiming to trade Wilson years ago and the veteran quarterback wasn’t happy with the club. According to the report, Seattle wanted to rid themselves of Russell long before they ever did. According to Brady Henderson, Russell and his camp “were f—ing” pissed” upon Seattle’s continuous scouting of rookie quarterbacks. We’ve heard the whispers of the Seahawks seeking a trade to acquire Josh Allen back in 2018.

Now the new rumors indicate that the Seahawks were all in on possibly obtaining Patrick Mahomes as well back in 2017. It’s kind of amazing that Russell Wilson and his camp were able to keep the drama under wraps for so long, but now it kind of all makes sense when Russ was talking about trades the last few seasons.

If the timeline on this report is accurate, that means Russell and the Seahawks divorce has been inevitable since 2017, but for whatever reason the two sides remained together for several more years before a trade was finalized sending Wilson to Denver.

Most analysts don’t think very highly of the Seahawks this coming season without Russ under center, and meanwhile, all eyes are on the Denver Broncos to shake things up in the AFC West.

We’ll see if Russ can cook up a mile high.
