Russell Wilson and Ciara are catching some flak from an unexpected source: animal rights group PETA.

Earlier in the week, the power couple took to social media to welcome the newest addition to their growing family: a little puppy.

While fans were congratulating Russell Wilson and Ciara for their new pup, PETA couldn’t help but slam the couple over their choice.

Specifically, PETA didn’t like that they opted to go through a breeder instead of rescuing.

Per TMZ:

PETA believes it’s clear — the couple’s new dog, Bronco, is a purebred puppy — and likely from a breeder where “mother dogs are often locked inside filthy cages and bred over and over until their bodies give out.”
