Is Justin Fields heading down a bad path with the Chicago Bears.

According to one NFL insider — yes. And he should do everything in his power to force his way off the Bears prior to the start of next season.

Sports Illustrated’s Connor Orr wrote a column on Friday detailing how the Bears have failed to build around Justin Fields talents, enough to where the young QB should QB seeking a trade.

Per the Article:

“Look around the league at the rest of the quarterbacks from the 2021 class. The Jets tried to trade for Tyreek Hill. They signed one of the best free-agent tight ends, who is also a solid blocker and may have saved Joe Burrow from being completely torn apart in Cincinnati last year. They spent top dollar on a guard. They’ll almost certainly add offensive line help with one of their four top-40 picks. The Jaguars spent a comical amount of money pacifying Trevor Lawrence, though we could debate whether that money is actually well-spent. Last year, the Patriots provided Mac Jones with two brand-new tight ends and two wide receivers. There is a behavior of encouragement and support that seems largely absent in Chicago.”

Despite losing several receivers in the offseason, Justin Fields seems perfectly content with the Bears’ moves this offseason.

He’s been working with receiver Darnell Mooney and tight end Cole Kmet all offseason to continue to build their continuity, and he’s reportedly pleased with the new offensive system put in place for him by OC Luke Getsy.

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus also maintained that the new offense will be very “quarterback friendly” for Justin Fields.

“I think he’s in a great spot,” Eberflus said during an appearance on Chris Collinsworth’s podcast. “We’ve had these meetings for a week and a half now, and he’s been meeting with the offensive staff and he feels very comfortable in this offense. This is a rhythm and timing offense…it’s going to be very quarterback friendly for him and it’s been quarterback friendly for a lot of guys in the past.”

“You can see the way it’s coached, the rhythm and timing of it, of the passing game is really going to help him to understand when to get rid of the ball. What his progressions are…”

The Bears appear to know that the upcoming season will not be great for them. But at the end of the day, they’re also hoping to do everything in their power to keep Justin Fields moving in the right direction.
