NFL Exec Picks One Team That Makes The Most Sense For Baker Mayfield

As it stands, Baker Mayfield remains on the Cleveland Browns roster. But after the Deshaun Watson move, I don’t think many are expecting him to stay there for very long.

Currently, the trade market appears pretty dry for Mayfield. But when push comes to shove, he’ll end up in another uniform (either via trade or the free agent market).

This week, an anonymous NFL exec spoke to FanSided’s Matt Lombardo, revealing that he sees the former first overall draft selection figuring it out in a different location.

“I’m a fan of him,” an NFL executive told Lombardo. “I think he’s going to be a good player. Wherever he ends up, I think Baker has the chance to be the Comeback Player of The Year. Two years ago, he went to Pittsburgh and won a playoff game, almost beat Kansas City in Kansas City in the Divisional round, and that was just two years ago. Guys don’t just get bad.”

The anonymous exec would go on to say that Baker Mayfield makes all the sense in the world for the Seattle Seahawks.

“There’s no doubt that Baker Mayfield is Seattle’s best option,” the executive added. “He’s only 26 years old. Is he a headstrong guy? Is he a prideful guy? Absolutely, bigger than life, and that’s alright. Pete Carroll can corral that in. That’s what he’s good at.”

Baker Mayfield busted onto the scene in Cleveland — leading them to their first playoff appearance since their disastrous run of the 2010s began.

Now, Mayfield is left trying to find his next home. And Seattle is as good a bet as any team to land the once-promising quarterback.
