Is Julian Edelman plotting a return to the NFL?

Earlier in the week, Bill Belichick hinted that he’s been trying to get the former receiver to come back to the Patriots during an appearance on a radio show.

During an appearance on the “Greg Hill Show”, Belichick says he still talks to Edelman “fairly regularly. And when asked if he was trying to get Edelman out of retirement, Belichick said, “you’d have to ask Julian”.

Now, Julian Edelman is adding fuel to the fire. On Twitter, the retired receiver referenced a picture of him at Patriots Training Camp when captioning, “Brought my cleats to the desert just in case…”, teasing fans with a potential comeback.

Rob Gronkowski immediately played into tease.

“Do it Jules!! Make a comeback!!” Gronk said.

Last year, Julian Edelman admitted that Tom Brady tried to get him to join Gronk in going to Tampa Bay. But Edelman declined.

“(Tom) hit me up the first day he signed there, like, ‘You wanna come down?’” Edelman said of a potential reunion with Brady and Rob Gronkowski in Tampa Bay. “I was like, ‘Absolutely not.'”

During his 11 year career with the Patriots, Julian Edelman hauled in 620 receptions for 6,822 yards and 36 touchdowns. But it’s what he did in the postseason that’ll keep him a legend in Foxboro for life.

In nine postseasons, Edelman caught 118 passes for 1,442 yards and five touchdowns. He won three Super Bowls during his illustrious career.

Obviously, Julian Edelman has nothing left to prove, and he’s likely just toying with fans in his latest social media activity.
