Houston Texans rookie John Metchie III now has a long, unexpected road to recovery ahead of him.

Earlier today, Metchie announced in a statement that he has been diagnosed with leukemia, and expects to miss all of the upcoming season.

After the John Metchie III news went viral, many were sending him well-wishes all over the web.

John Metchie III now has some terrible news to deal with after what should be his first season of a successful career in the NFL.

During his days at Alabama, Metchie was consistently lauded for his locker room presence as well as his prowess on the field.
