Joe Burrow is coming off a pretty fantastic year,  he led his team to the most important game of the season.

The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback still has two years left on his rookie deal, and the team has made it abundantly clear that they would like to get his extension done as early as possible. Burrow is very cognizant of the moves the team has made in anticipation of a monster extension for him, among other things, but for Joe it won’t matter if he doesn’t keep playing at a high level. Joe was asked about his contract extension and had a pretty telling answer:

“It doesn’t mean anything if I go in and stink it up this year,” Burrow said, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Charlie Goldsmith, “I’m focused on this year.”

With salaries for Quarterbacks at record highs, there’s no doubt the Bengals will have to back up the Brinks truck when it comes time to pay their star QB. Burrow has also proven he’s capable of bouncing back from a serious injury. Burrow tore the MCL in addition to the ACL in his left knee back in November of 2020 which ended his season that year.

But we know he looked as good as ever last season, taking the Bengals to a Super Bowl loss against the Rams.

As long as Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase can stick together, they should be competitive. But of course these two will be dominating the team’s cap space for years to come.
