Former NFL QB Mark Sanchez Worked in an Internet Porn Analogy While Announcing Rams Falcons Game

Mark Sanchez is doing great things as an announcer.

There are several ways to describe an offensive lineman doing his job well, but former NFL QB Mark Sanchez might have found a  pretty creepy way to do it during Sunday’s game between the Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Rams. Following a run from Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers during the second quarter, the New York Jets quarterback turned Fox Sports color commentator decided center Coleman Shelton’s blocking deserved some recognition.  Sanchez wasn’t wrong, in fact Shelton pulled and erased two Falcons defenders to open a wide running lane for Akers.

Mark decided to add some color to his commentating on the solid blocking.

“I mean, Shelton’s clearing out defenders faster than a teenager clears his search history on his web browser. Holy smokes.”

Holy smokes is a great way to describe what Sanchez just joked about.  Say what you want about the Butt Fumble, but Sanchez is speaking to plenty of people by casually dropping in references of porn.   I’m pretty sure almost every single person listening can relate on some level to what Mark is saying.  Sanchez is beginning his second year in the broadcast booth for Fox after moving over from ESPN in 2021, having retired from professional football in 2019. We’ll have to wait and see if the network has any issues with its commentator using an internet pornography analogy, but I don’t think Sanchez will get reprimanded for connecting to his audience.

In the meantime, we can enjoy even more demonstrations of how Sanchez does things a little differently.

What a legend.
