Fantasy Football Managers Buzzing Over Malik Willis’ Debut

Tennessee Titans quarterback Malik Willis has quite the debut in the preseason game against the Ravens this week.

The rookie QB turned heads early and often during his short time on the field on Thursday.

In a second and goal situation, Willis showcased his dual-threat ability when scampering for an impressive six yard TD run.

Later in the game, Malik Willis proved that he can beat NFL defenses through the air, too.

After the game, talking heads such as FS1’s Nick Wright were explaining how Tennessee could turn to Malik Willis over Ryan Tannehill sooner than expected.

“Can you imagine waking up this morning [as] a [Seattle] Seahawks or a [New York] Giants fan, knowing you passed on this guy four times,” Wright said. “Three times, each team, after the first round you passed on him. I’m not sitting here saying, ‘Based on last night, we know Malik Willis is gonna be a star.’ I’m not saying that. What I am saying is, a guy who was considered he might go sixth overall to Carolina — these quarterback-needy teams letting him fall all the way to the tail end of the third round was bananas.”

Still, the Titans will start Ryan Tannehill to open the season. But expect fans to come calling for Malik Willis as soon as the veteran struggles in the slightest.

Maybe Malik Willis is worth a very late pick in your fantasy leagues. But if you have a keeper league going, I’d expect the young QB to be a hot commodity.

Definitely a great start to his career.
