Door Isn’t 100% Closed Yet on Baker Mayfield’s Chances With One NFL Team

According to a report, the Cleveland Browns might look to bring in some competition for Baker Mayfield during this offseason after a lackluster 2021-22 season

Baker Mayfield is still in NFL purgatory, but he may soon get a reprieve.

The Cleveland Browns  are trying to get something in return for Baker Mayfield, as they have yet to release him. The trade market for Baker is pretty much non existent.  However one team, a team that he’s been linked to for several weeks, is still quietly considering him for their team.

According to NFL insider Josina Anderson,  the Carolina Panthers haven’t shut the door on trade talks for Mayfield.

“My understanding is the door isn’t 100% shut on the #Panthers and talks regarding Baker Mayfield, but I certainly received the impression that Carolina isn’t in any rush, nor are they pressed, per league source. They will roll as is, if need be, per league source.”

The Panthers are prepared to run it back with Sam Darnold again, which is probably not their first choice. But they can also just wait it out and make the Browns actually make a move on Baker. Worst case scenario it seems like the Browns want Baker for insurance in case Watson gets a long suspension handed down.

This whole situation is a complete mess. The Browns doing Browns type things.
