Is everything OK with Tom Brady and his family?

Last week, TB12 abruptly left the Buccaneers after pointing to a familial issue as a reason why he had to take a short break from the team.

“#Bucs QB Tom Brady is not at practice today for personal, non-football reasons. Coach Todd Bowles will discuss it after practice, but my understanding is he won’t be present for a few days,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport wrote at the time.

Now, Ian Rapoport is providing some more details.

According to the NFL insider, Brady and his family are perfectly fine, but the veteran QB just feels the need to create some work/life balance at this stage of his career.

“Here’s everything that I understand about this,” Rapoport said. “It was planned. No one is worried. He’s fine. To my knowledge, it’s not a medical emergency related to him or, I believe, anyone close to him. I was told that everything is OK. The best description I got about this was that it is important to find a work life balance.”

After their first preseason game, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles admitted that Tom Brady will likely be away from the team until after the next preseason game against the Titans.

“This is something we talked about before training camp started,” Bowles said to ESPN. “We allotted this time because he wanted to get in and get chemistry with the guys and go through two weeks of training camp, knowing he wasn’t going to play the first two games. He didn’t want to take away reps from Blaine [Gabbert] and Kyle [Trask], as well as ‘Griff’ [Ryan Griffin] going into these next two games, knowing it’s something he needs to handle.”

By all accounts, it appears as though Tom Brady just needed a little break. And at this point, it’s hard to imagine that he really needs to be playing for the first two weeks of preseason anyways.
