Deebo Samuel’s holdout is officially over.
The All-Pro receiver ended his offseason holdout by reporting for the first day of mandatory minicamp for the San Francisco 49ers today. Back in April he told ESPN that he wanted to be traded but showed up Tuesday for the start of the three-day minicamp.
Attendance report for mandatory minicamp:
Present: Nick Bosa, Deebo Samuel, Trent Williams
Excused: Dee Ford (back), Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder). Neither will be fined for missing the 3-day camp.

The electric receiver wasn’t in uniform but was running on a side field, according to Barrows.

Skipping the camp could have led to a fine of nearly $100,000. Samuel is entering the final year of the rookie deal he signed after being drafted in the second round in 2019 and is looking to take advantage of the recent monster receiver contracts. Head coach Kyle Shanahan wouldn’t confirm if Samuel changed his mind about his trade request, but Shanahan remains optimistic about a deal.
“I don’t think the relationship was ever too far away to not get it back to normal and I think we’re working on that,” he said, per ESPN’s Nick Wagoner.
Deebo will make nearly $4 million this season after being a first-team All-Pro in 2021.
