Was Russell Wilson trying to get Bobby Wagner to join the Denver Broncos with him?

After the blockbuster trade saw Russ move from Seattle to Denver, it was reported that Wilson called his former linebacker to try to get him to join the Broncos with him.

After joining the Rams in free agency, Bobby Wagner took issue with the report about Russell Wilson trying to recruit him.

According to the linebacker, he did talk to Wilson. But it was just a friendly conversation amongst longtime friends.

“To clarify – Russ wasn’t recruiting me, just two close friends talking,” Wagner said on Twitter. “We both talking about wanting to stay in Seattle. Just didn’t happen that way.”

It wouldn’t come as a big shock if Russell Wilson approached Bobby Wagner about joining the Broncos.

After all, the Seahawks made their direction clear with the Wilson trade. And Wagner will undoubtedly want to compete as he enters the twilight of his career.

Luckily for both Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner, they both have pretty good situations for next season.

Who knows, maybe we’ll see the longtime friends meet up in the Super Bowl this season.
