NFL linebacker Matt Adams hasn’t even played a single down for the Bears yet, but it didn’t take long for him to get into some action away from the field.

The 26-year-old was arrested for gun possession this week. Adams signed a 1-year deal with the Bears in April.

He was questioned by cops around 6:45 PM after he was spotted near a Jeep that was reported stolen. Adams allegedly claimed to have bought the car, but when cops searched the vehicle, they found a loaded handgun in the center console and an extended mag in the trunk. This arrest is the second legal incident for a freshly-signed Chicago Bear, with wide receiver Byron Pringle arrested for a car-related run-in earlier this offseason.

You can see the full details in the TMZ report.

The Bears have released a statement on their new LB:

I wonder how new Chicago Bears Head Coach Matt Eberflus is feeling about his former/current player today.
