Videos: Baker Mayfield Struggling Mightily In Training Camp

According to a report, the Cleveland Browns might look to bring in some competition for Baker Mayfield during this offseason after a lackluster 2021-22 season

Just because Baker Mayfield was traded to the Panthers a couple of weeks ago does not ensure that he’ll get the starting job for Week One against his former team.

During day one of training Camp with his new team, Panthers beat writers are quick to point out that he isn’t exactly clicking in the new system.

According to people at camp, Baker underthrew a receiver on a deep route, which resulted in an interception.

After being the Panthers starting QB last season, Sam Darnold is embracing the competition with Baker Mayfield.

“It’s always fun to compete and to be able to have someone to compete with. At the same time, in our eyes, we’re both the starting quarterback for this team right now, and that’s how we’re going to view it,” Darnold said in his first time speaking with the media since the Mayfield trade occurred.

Of course, it’s important to realize that it’s going to take time before Baker Mayfield figures out his new receivers and offensive scheme. But if his first performance is any indication, Darnold might have one last opportunity to prove himself once the season rolls around.
