Baker Mayfield Betting Futures: Odds on Comeback Player of the Year, MVP Following Strong Preseason Showing

Is a Baker Mayfield revenge year upon us?

After Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule named Mayfield his starting QB over Sam Darnold for Week 1 of the regular season, the former Browns first round draft pick shined on Friday night.

While leading the Panthers offense, Mayfield showed glimpses of why he was so highly coveted coming out of Oklahoma. He completed 9-13 for 89 yards while adding two touchdowns on the evening.

Baker Comeback Player of the Year & MVP Odds

After Baker Mayfield impressed on Friday night, Panthers fans are coming at the bit to get some action in on their new QB1.

Given his tough 2021-22 season with the Browns, the most logical bet centered around Mayfield would be for the fiery QB to win Comeback Player of the Year.

Per DraftKings, Baker Mayfield is a long shot at +800 to win the Comeback Player of the year Award, with many previously-injured player checking in ahead of him.

Baker Mayfield wouldn’t seem to have much of a chance to win any of the elite offensive player awards this season.

Even after winning the QB1 job over Darnold, Mayfield hold incredibly long-shot odds to win the MVP this season at +8000.

Regardless of his long shot odds to take home any hardware this season, Mayfield is ready to play in front of Panthers fans come time for the season.

“Obviously, the rain delay wasn’t very friendly to our fans,” Mayfield said of his first outing at Bank of America Stadium via Yahoo Sports. “But it was a good experience for us. Obviously, two weeks from now, it’s gonna be the real thing. So get a little first taste of it. But ready for that stadium to be full capacity and rockin’.”
