Angry Outrage After Herschel Walker Backers Give Gas Vouchers to Voters

Now that’s how you buy a vote.

A gas-money giveaway to help Herschel Walker get elected, the Republican candidate for Senate in Georgia, left Democrats and voting rights groups in the state pretty angry. They believe the move is both hypocritical and possibly illegal, as rules permit this kind of activity in exchange for votes. In an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, state Rep. Bee Nguyen cited a 2020 incident in which she said a state investigator had demanded that volunteers at a polling place in metro Atlanta remove all snacks and water.

“Giving away gas vouchers and Herschel Walker flyers at the same time isn’t legal,” she said. “Are they going to do something about it?”

It’s a felony in Georgia to pay for votes or bribe voters.

Georgia election law states that “any person who gives or receives, offers to give or receive, or participates in the giving or receiving of money or gifts for the purpose of registering as a voter, voting, or voting for a particular candidate in any primary or election shall be guilty of a felony.”

You can see some video of the gas vouchers doing their job below:

Walker’s campaign denied the gas has anything to do with trying to get votes.

Politics is the worst.
