The Zen Master is back, sort of.

Phil Jackson will be advising the Los Angeles Lakers on their head coaching search. The former Bulls/Lakers coach previously had influence on the process when the Lakers hired Frank Vogel.

“This is very much a committee in L.A. putting together this coaching search,” said Adrian Wojnarowski. “One person who is certainly significantly involved in this process is Phil Jackson. He’s got a voice in this.”

Jackson and Kurt Rambis considered hiring Vogel to become head coach of the New York Knicks before deciding on Derek Fisher.

The Lakers are expected to have a lengthy process before deciding upon their next head coach.

If Phil was a bit younger and healthier, there’s no doubt he’d be the one roaming the courtside.  It’s going to be an uphill battle for whomever lands it.
