LeBron James Reportedly Has His Ideal Next Head Coach Picked Out

Is “LeGM” at it again?

After the Lakers made the decision to fire Frank Vogel following their disastrous 2021-22 season, all eyes shifted to LeBron James and who he’d want to be the team’s next head coach.

At first, it was believed that James had interest in former Warriors coach Mark Jackson taking over the bench.

But now, it appears there’s a new favorite to land the Lakers gig: Milwaukee Bucks assistant Darvin Ham.

Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus is reporting that LeBron wants Ham out of everyone else.

Per the article:

“The Lakers may be willing to take that leap of faith because Ham spent two years with the organization. His personality isn’t easily forgotten. Ham brings a lot of energy to a gym. He’s arguably the best fit for the locker room, with veterans like LeBron James, Anthony Davis and possibly Russell Westbrook in need of a coach they can relate to and respect.

“He’s the guy LeBron wants,” a competing source said.

It will be up to Ham to spell out his basketball vision, in general and in context to the Lakers’ roster makeup. He could be the hire if he can sell that side to the team’s front office.”

In the past, LeBron James has normally gotten his wish when it comes to these type of decisions. But even if the Lakers want to make their own call, it’s hard to knock Darvin Ham.

He’s been with the Lakers, and has been considered a top assistant in the league for several years now. If the Lakers were to pass, he’d likely catch on elsewhere as a head coach in the very near future.

For now, it sure looks like the Lakers may keep LeBron James happy and start zeroing in on Darvin Ham as their next head coach.
