The Russell Westbrook experiment didn’t go according to plan for the Lakers.

During their tumultuous season, Westbrook and his erratic play were made out to be the scapegoat for a season that’ll unexpectedly see the Lakers outside looking in to the playoffs.

But as many are speculating that the Lakers will now look to find a trade partner for Russell Westbrook, some more damning assessments of Westbrook’s play paint a pretty grim picture for how the organization views the point guard.

According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelbourne, people within the Lakers organization are now questioning if something might be wrong with the veteran player.

“People on the team and around the league began to wonder if something was wrong with his hands or eyes,” Shelburne wrote. “It’s not often a player makes just 65% of his dunks in a season.

“Sources close to Westbrook insist he has had his hands thoroughly checked by a specialist and that the treatment he receives regularly is no different than the regular treatment he does on his ankles and knees.”

Despite the general consensus that it would be best for Russell Westbrooks and the Lakers if they go their separate ways, Russ revealed recently that his “plan” is to return to LA next season.

“I mean, that’s the plan. But nothing is promised.,” he said earlier in the week. “Yes, we want to be able to see what that looks like, what that entails over the course of an 82-game season. But we’re not sure if that’s guaranteed, either. So I just hope that we have a chance to be able to do something.”

Regardless of what’s coming out of Russell Westbrook’s mouth, I find it incredibly hard to believe that he’ll be sticking around with the Lakers next season.
