Is LeBron pulling strings to get Doc Rivers back to Los Angeles?

Last week, reports began to surface that people around the 76ers organization were growing tired of Rivers’ shtick amid the disappointing end to their season.

Now, some other teams are reportedly gauging the possibility of bringing in Doc Rivers to replace their head coach.

Specifically, a report has openly linked Rivers to the Lakers job after the team parts ways with head coach Frank Vogel after the season.

Per Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report:

“Doc Rivers, the Philadelphia 76ers’ head coach, is another active bench leader being mentioned by league personnel as a potential Lakers candidate. Rivers’ tenure in Philadelphia has also come into question of late, spurred by team president Daryl Morey’s deadline acquisition of James Harden and the mounting speculation that followed about a potential reunification with Harden’s former Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni. “

While Doc Rivers might not be the first name on most Lakers fans’ wish list, it’s pretty clear at this point that Frank Vogel is a dead man walking.

Despite coming into the season with championship aspirations, the Lakers have had a disastrous season. And they’d now miss the play-in tournament altogether with another loss tonight.

Doc Rivers hasn’t been able to get his teams over the hump since his days with the Celtics. But perhaps a pairing with LeBron would bring the best out of the two future Hall of Famers.
