Something extremely weird is going on with Freddie Freeman this week.

During the first baseman’s return to Atlanta, he got understandably emotional. But after indicating that he has remorse for how his contract negotiations went down last offseason, Freeman added to the speculation by firing his agency and representing himself for the time being.

Now, it’s being reported that Freddie Freeman grew apart from his agent because he was never told what the Braves’ final contract offer to him was.

“Casey Close never told Freddie Freeman about the Braves final offer, that is why Freeman fired him. He found out in Atlanta this weekend. It isn’t that rare to have happen in MLB, but it happened – Close knew Freddie would have taken the ATL deal,” insider Doug Gottlieb said in a tweet.

Freddie Freeman explained his decision to move off Casey Close as his agent shortly after the Braves series.

“Last weekend in Atlanta was a very emotional time for me and my family,” he said in a statement. “I am working through some issues with my longtime agents at Excel. My representation remains a fluid situation and I will update if needed.”

Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw also insinuated that he could tell Freddie Freeman still kind of wishes he was a member of the Atlanta Braves.

“It was very cool (to see Freeman’s reception Friday night),” Kershaw told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “He’s obviously been a big contributor for our team. And I hope we’re not second fiddle. It’s a pretty special team over here, too. I think whenever he gets comfortable over here, he’ll really enjoy it. It was a good night for him (Friday).”

Perhaps Freddie Freeman will grow to like being a Dodger a little bit more by the time the postseason rolls around.
