Mets’ Broadcast Booth Had a NSFW Talk About Strokes

FILE - Keith Hernandez, a member of the 1986 World Champion New York Mets team, speaks to fans during a pre-game ceremony to honor the 20th anniversary of the Mets 1986 team before the Mets played a baseball game against the Colorado Rockies, on Aug. 19, 2006, at Shea Stadium in New York. A captain and commentator who has been beloved in Queens for nearly four decades, Hernandez will have his No. 17 retired by the Mets prior to a July 9, 2022, game against Miami. Let’s talk about strokes, shall we?

During the Mets’ 11-5 win over the San Diego Padres, former Mets great Keith Hernandez started talking about New York “stroking out” eight hits, when Cohen started laughing. Here’s where it got a little juvenile. Cohen thought the phrasing wasn’t great medically, because “stroking out” means having a stroke.

But Hernandez thought Cohen was referring to something much more NSFW. You can see the whole thing play out, and it’s pretty rewatchable.

Just another way to fill up air time, calling baseball games isn’t as easy as it looks..
