Manny Machado And Juan Soto Got Into Heated Argument With Jurickson Profar For Lazy Mistake

Things aren’t going according to plan for the San Diego Padres since they went all-in at the Trade Deadline.

Unfortunately, the Padres have yet to click around their new nucleus of Juan Soto, Manny Machado and Brandon Drury, and they got even worse news last week when a PED suspension took away their hopes of getting star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. back this season.

Last night, the frustration boiled over for the Padres after left fielder Jurickson Profar made a terrible mental mistake.

When Marlins slugger Miguel Rojas hit one over Profar’s head, the left fielder appeared to dare Rojas to try for a triple by holding onto the ball. Sure enough, Rojas took advantage of Profar taking his sweet time getting the ball in, and made it into third with a sliding triple.

Check out how the whole play unfolded below:

When Jurickson Profar made it back to the dugout, he was met by Juan Soto and Manny Machado — who clearly took issue with him loafing around in the field.

After the game, Jurickson Profar took full responsibility for the mental gaffe.

“I just have to throw it in. I made a mental mistake right there…I take full responsibility for it. It won’t happen again,” he said to a pool of reporters.

The Padres currently hold the top NL Wild Card spot with a 65-53 record on the year, but have not shown a drastic improvement since acquiring Juan Soto at the Trade Deadline.

It’ll most likely all come down to the Wild Card Game for the Padres, but if they’re able to advance in the playoffs, their lineup could prove to be scary for opponents.

Still, the Padres need to start clicking. And their controversial moment on Monday night will obviously be magnified given the current state of their team.
