Could the Juan Soto-Padres deal still hit a snag?
On Tuesday morning, it was reported by several respected insiders that the Padres and Nationals had agreed to a deal that would send the young outfielder to San Diego.

But perhaps the Juan Soto deal could still get scrapped?
Now, it’s being reported that Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer would be sent to Washington in the deal, and being as he has a no-trade clause, Hosmer could say “no” to the whole thing.
CORRECTION: The Nationals are on Eric Hosmer's 10-team no-trade list. He would have to give his consent to be in a deal with Washington.

Still, the belief is that the Nationals and Padres will hammer out the Juan Soto deal with or without Eric Hosmer’s approval. But it is pretty entertaining that we have such a clear chance at complete chaos.
Both the Nationals and Padres have not announced an official deal yet, so perhaps they’re giving Hosmer some time to think about his options.
Either way, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before Juan Soto officially becomes a Padre.
