We see plenty of anti-climactic benches clearing situations in baseball. But rarely does something occur before the game even starts.

However, prior to the Giants-Reds game on Friday night, Tommy Pham and Joc Pederson had a bit of a disagreement.

Before first pitch, the two outfielders had to be separated after getting into a heated discussion during batting practice.

After the game ended, Joc Pederson explained that it was a fantasy football dispute that started his beef with Tommy Pham. He also claimed the Reds outfielder slapped him across the face during their discussion.

Sure, fantasy football can get a little heated at times, but it’s hard to imagine Joc Pederson and Tommy Pham really squared up over something so juvenile.

Regardless, the Reds were able to steal one against the giants on Friday night, winning 5-1.

It’ll be interesting to see if there’s any carry over between Tommy Pham and Joc Pederson for the rest of the series.
