Willson Contreras, Ian Happ Hug At Wrigley Field Goes Viral After They Weren’t Moved At The Trade Deadline

Despite everything we heard and believed heading into today’s MLB Trade Deadline, Ian Happ and Willson Contreras are still members of the Chicago Cubs.

After potential suitors could not meet the Cubs’ high asking price, it was revealed that the team decided to hang on to both Contreras and Happ for the remainder of the season.

Shortly after the news hit social media, a video of Willson Contreras and Ian Happ embracing for a long hug in what they thought was their last game at Wrigley Field went viral.

Based on their comments over the past few weeks, both Ian Happ and Willson Contreras were positive they were about to be moved. And based on what they endured over the past couple of seasons, their conclusion made sense.

After all, the Cubs have traded the likes of Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Javier Baez, Yu Darvish,  Kyle Schwarber, and many more in their recent selling mode, so it only made sense that Happ and Contreras were the next pieces to go.

Now, both Ian Happ and Willson Contreras will have to re-group, and finish off another disappointing season in a Cubs uniform.

It’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for both players.
