The Tommy Phan GIF that started it all has been revealed.

This past Friday benches cleared before the game when the Reds’ Tommy Pham slapped the Giants’ Joc Pederson in the face after a brief discussion in the outfield. Pederson didn’t slap back, and Pham was removed from the lineup, and he also got hit with a three-game suspension.

It turned out that the entire confrontation stemmed from a fantasy football dispute about bench-IR etiquette.

Pederson showed off the receipts from his phone.

Of course MLB fans were able to locate that GIF.

See below:

Why Pham was so upset over that GIF when he doesn’t even play for the Padres anymore is puzzling. There’s also the fact that Pederson sent it as a member of the Braves. Pederson was basically being an average sports fan joking around with his buddies in a group chat.

Twitter reacted to the GIF:

Now that’s one crazy fantasy feud story, one that Pham will never hear the end of it.
