Clayton Kershaw basically said out loud what everyone was thinking watching Freddie Freeman return to Atlanta this past weekend: the first baseman wishes he was still a Brave.

Throughout the series, Freeman was seen getting emotional, and he even made comments about how he had some reservations about how negotiations with the Braves went last offseason.

After the series concluded, Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw made an honest admission that he believed Freddie Freeman wasn’t comfortable in the Dodgers’ clubhouse yet.

“It was very cool (to see Freeman’s reception Friday night),” Kershaw told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “He’s obviously been a big contributor for our team. And I hope we’re not second fiddle. It’s a pretty special team over here, too. I think whenever he gets comfortable over here, he’ll really enjoy it. It was a good night for him (Friday).”

While Clayton Kershaw’s comments appeared to be a very subtle and gentle reminder to Freddie Freeman about who he now plays for, it didn’t seem like Freeman got the memo.

After the Braves series, it was announced that Freeman was changing his agency, and for the time being he’s currently representing himself.

“Last weekend in Atlanta was a very emotional time for me and my family,” he said in a statement. “I am working through some issues with my longtime agents at Excel. My representation remains a fluid situation and I will update if needed.”

It sure sounds like Freddie Freeman had the realization over the weekend that he wishes he was still on the Braves, which can’t be a great feeling for Clayton Kershaw and his other teammates on the Dodgers.
