For the first time all season, the Chicago White Sox are playing up to their potential.

After the sweeping the Tigers over the weekend, the Sox had a true measuring stick type of series at home this week against the AL-leading Astros.

Sure enough, the White Sox were able to take the first two games thanks to thrilling late inning comebacks. Last night, it was the struggling slugger, Yoan Moncada, who came through with the game-winning hit off the Astros bullpen late in the game.

Now that the White Sox have a five game winning streak under their belts as we enter the final stretch of the season, they’re now betting favorites to win the AL Central.

Check out the full division odds below, per Fanduel:

It’s clear a three horse race in the AL Central heading into the final stretch of the season.

As it stands, the Guardians are just one game ahead of both the Twins and White Sox for first place in the division. But the general consensus is that Chicago has the most talent at their disposal out of anyone in the division.

And now, the South Siders are feeling confident.

“Winning has been fun. It’s been a lot of fun,” outfielder Gavin Sheets said after coming through with a big hit in last night’s game. “There’s an energy in here. We know what’s at stake.”

The Sox will play two more games against the Astros this week before heading to Cleveland over the weekend for a major series against the division leaders.

Regardless of how everything shakes out, the pennant race should be fun to keep tabs on down the stretch.
