A’s Increase Security Following Lewd Fan Behavior in Stands at RingCentral Coliseum

The Oakland A’s are beefing up their security.

Earlier in the week some Oakland A’s fans showed up at RingCentral Coliseum to return to “the scene of the crime” in the stands, where a couple allegedly engaged in a lewd sex act the day before. The moment went completely viral, and understandably so. A now-viral video is showing a group of fans laughing and holding signs that read lewd messages including “Play Balls” and “Don’t Blow It.”

Watch the video below:

Following the game the Oakland Police Department were alerted to the incident that allegedly took place in the stands.

“The Oakland Police Department was not alerted to this incident until after the game and we were advised that A’s staff/cameras did not capture video of this during the game. We have initiated an investigation,” said OPD Public Information Officer Candace Keas in a statement to KRON4.

“However, the parties have not been identified and no one has been cited/arrested at this time. The violation is 647(a) PC. Lewd acts in public.”

Now it appears security measures have been increased at RingCentral Coliseum. As you can see in the video below,  security guards are posted up in the Third Deck.

If they had to hire one extra person as a result of the lewd incident, that hero is a job creator in more ways than one. But the best way to prevent this from happening is to have actual fans in the Upper Deck. For instance If the A’s moved to Las Vegas, fans might actually show up to games.

If the couple is charged and convicted, they could face up to six months in jail and a fine of $1,000.
