Tiger Woods Gives Classic Answer When Asked If He Thinks He Can Win The Masters

It sure looks like Tiger Woods is going to make his return to competitive golf for The Masters this weekend.

Despite saying his body wasn’t close to ready for the PGA just a few months ago, Tiger fueled speculation and media frenzy when he made the trip to Augusta National twice over the past two weeks to test his surgically-repaired leg.

With Masters week upon us, Tiger Woods spoke to the media on Tuesday — where he revealed that he feels like he’s going to give it a shot this weekend.

“As of right now,” Woods said via ESPN, “I feel like I’m going to play.”

Tiger Woods has always felt like the type of athlete who wouldn’t be competing unless he felt like there was a chance he could win. So naturally, he was asked if he really believes he can win the biggest tournament in golf just 15 months after the car crash threatened his leg.

Tiger’s answer didn’t disappoint.

Tiger Woods knows the notoriously-hilly Augusta National course will pose a unique challenge to him given where he is with his rehab. But for now, he’s up to that challenge.

“I can hit it just fine. I don’t have any qualms about what I can do physically from a golf standpoint,” he said. “It’s now walking is the hard part. This is normally not an easy walk to begin with (at Augusta), now given the conditions that my leg is in, it gets even more difficult.

“You know, 72 holes is a long road, and it’s going to be a challenge and a challenge that I’m up for.”

It goes without saying that Tiger Woods in contention this week would send the entire sports world into a frenzy. But based on his comments, he believes there’s no reason he can’t win the damn thing.

Either way, it will be awesome to see him back walking the fairways at Augusta again.
