Rory McIlroy Slams LIV Golf Field Despite Dustin Johnson’s Presence

Rory McIlroy became the first PGA player to come to the aid of Bryson DeChambeau amid the constant "Brooksy" taunts and fan ejections

Count Rory McIlroy among the many who aren’t that impressed with the field headlining the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tour’s first event.

However, mixed with a bunch of the no-name players was Dustin Johnson — who had previously pledged his allegiance to the PGA Tour.

After looking at the list, Rory McIlroy had the same reaction as many fans.

Rory McIlroy and several of the other top players in the world took an oath to the PGA Tour back after commissioner Jay Monahan made it clear that any player who chose the Saudi Tour would not be welcomed back for events.

Now, it’ll be interesting to see if the PGA Tour will stick to their word and disallow Dustin Johnson from competing in their events while he’s with LIV Golf.

At the end of the day, the PGA can likely survive the loss of one guy of Dustin Johnson’s caliber, and Rory McIlroy knows his league is going to be just fine without some of the guys who are choosing LIV Golf.
